Not every Jamaica trip lands in Montego Bay. One form, every airport

The C5 is Jamaica's Immigration and Customs Passenger Declaration, a single electronic form that replaced the old paper immigration card and customs slip. Since September 2023 it has been mandatory for every arriving passenger, one declaration per traveller, children included. Crucially, there is no separate Kingston version or Ocho Rios version. The declaration is national. So the question is never "which C5 do I need for Kingston?" It is simply "have I completed my C5 before I reach the immigration desk?" The answer needs to be yes at every airport.

Norman Manley International (KIN), Kingston

Kingston is Jamaica's capital and its business and government hub, and Norman Manley International (KIN) reflects that. Compared with Montego Bay, you will see proportionally more business travellers, returning residents, and regional connections, and fewer package holidaymakers heading to resorts. That difference in crowd shapes your arrival more than it changes your paperwork.

A few Kingston-specific points worth knowing:

• Purpose of trip. The C5 asks whether you are travelling for tourism or business. If you are in town for meetings, a conference, or work, select business honestly. It does not complicate anything; it simply matches your reason for the visit.
• Your Jamaica address. For a business trip this is usually your hotel, often in the New Kingston district. If you are staying with colleagues, family, or a host, use that residential address instead. The field wants where you will actually spend your nights.
• Flow and pace. Kingston's arrival banks are generally steadier than Montego Bay's holiday surges, but the process is identical: gate, immigration desk (first QR scan), baggage claim, customs (second QR scan), then the exit.

Ian Fleming International (OCJ) and smaller entries

Ian Fleming International (OCJ), near Ocho Rios on the north coast, is a small international airport that mainly handles private and light aircraft plus some scheduled service. Its size can create a false impression that the rules are looser. They are not. The C5 is mandatory for arriving passengers at OCJ exactly as it is at the two big airports. If anything, a smaller field means fewer staff on hand to help you catch up, so arriving with your confirmation already done is the smoother path.

The same principle covers any other point where you are formally processed through Jamaican immigration: the C5 is the arrival declaration, and it must exist before you reach the desk.

Regional and connecting arrivals

Kingston and, to a lesser extent, the north-coast fields also see regional traffic from within the Caribbean, plus travellers connecting from other hubs. If your final entry into Jamaica is at one of these airports, that is the arrival that counts for the C5, regardless of how many legs your journey had. You still file one declaration per traveller, you still give the airline and flight number of the flight that actually brings you into Jamaica, and you still show the QR at immigration and customs. A short regional hop is treated exactly like a long-haul arrival: same form, same two scans.
